Obituary for Arthur "Artie" Stevens IV

Arthur “Artie” Stevens IV

“Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father, the God from whom all help comes! He helps us in all our troubles, so that we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles, using the same help that we ourselves have received from God.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

If you’ve ever met Artie Stevens, you’ve seen a redeemed, smiling, enthusiastic, transparent, loving, talented, hilarious, straight-shooting, forgiving, accepting, and steadfast husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and follower of Jesus who would talk to anyone that would want to hear his story. He is the kind of guy everybody loves. You meet him once and you have a friend for life.

Artie was born in Youngstown, Ohio on February 28, 1978. He graduated from Boardman High School (1996) and Pittsburgh Culinary School of the Arts (1999). He came to Indiana for Wheeler Mission’s Addiction Recovery Program, where he was transformed by Jesus and given new life. Upon graduating, he worked in Wheeler’s Food Services department, met and married Erica (Coleman), grew active in his church, had two beautiful children, and made friends everywhere he went. Artie continued on to launch a rapidly growing business, ‘Artie’s On The Go’, and recently bought ‘Indy’s Kitchen’ and opened a coffeeshop called ‘Artie’s on Central’. Artie has a knack to make people and their bellies smile.

On November 3, 2017, Artie’s heart stopped working. Tests were run, toxicology reports were clean, but all results were grim. On November 9, 2017, Artie passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He is now at home in eternal glory with Jesus.

The Lord has been and continues to be faithful, good, merciful, a healer, and provider of unbelievable strength, comfort, and peace to his wife - Erica, his children - Arthur, 3 years and Eva, 1 year, his mom and dad - Art and Michele (Rocco), siblings - Leah (Frank), Aaron (Bridget) and Chris (Roxanna), and many, many family & friends. We are confident God will continue to use Artie’s life to bring people to Him, to break the chains of addiction, and bring glory to His name.

Thank you so much for your prayers, encouragement, and support. Tell your loved ones how much you love them – all the time. Tomorrow isn’t promised but God never changes.
