Obituary for Dorothy Motley

Dorothy Motley, 94, of Greenwood, passed away on June 12, 2018. Born on Sept. 19, 1923 in Carthage, Missouri to the late Milo and Alpha Heisten, she retired from Perry Township Schools after 27 years of service.

She was a longtime active member of Garfield Park Baptist Church.
Dorothy enjoyed crocheting. For 20+ years, she crocheted 100 afghans per year and donated them to area hospice patients. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan never missing a game.

Survivors include her children, Bruce Motley (Lyndle) and Gywnn Christie (Randy); six grandchildren, Kristi Motley (Jim Luckett), Jason Motley (Laurie), Scott Jones (Christi), Colin Christie (Annie), Drew Christie (Jennifer), Reid Christie (Jessica) and 11 great grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Henry W. Motley and brother, Milo Heisten Jr.

Visitation will be observed on Friday, June 15 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 South State Road 135. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, June 16 at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Garfield Park Baptist.
