Obituary for Lawrence S Lisby, Jr

Lawrence S. Lisby Jr, 70, Indianapolis, passed away on Feb. 7, 2018. Born Feb. 24, 1947 in Indianapolis, he was a 1965/1966 graduate and varsity wrestler at Beech Grove High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired truck driver. Larry was a devoted family man who lived life to the fullest. He loved and lived to go to Florida. He was a 34 year Colts ticket holder and even longer fan. Fishing was a favorite pastime even though he never caught the “big one.” He loved dogs, especially boxers. Larry didn’t know a stranger and would always reply that he was wonderful when asked how he was doing. He loved going to the movies and watching tv. Every day he read the Indianapolis Star and would send texts of comics, eating out coupons, medical or entertaining articles someone should read, videos of his squirrels and birds or just what the weather was like outside. It was nothing for him to send you a picture of it raining or snowing. Larry loved eating out and would give servers golden dollars. If someone needed to be put in his or her place, he had no problem speaking his mind, especially when it came to his family. Larry had a laugh that was infectious and always a warm smile or a fiery comment when it was needed. Larry was up for any adventure and we know that he is sitting in the sunshine, watching football, fishing and cracking jokes in heaven.

Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Donna Lisby; daughter, Melissa Jones and her husband, Nicholas; one grandson, Ryan Jones; siblings, Terry Bray (Ronald), Bari Schlenz (Robert), Jerald Lisby (Melinda), Chris Lisby; brother in law, Rick Landreth; many nieces and nephews and their beloved dog, Izzy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leota B. (Shearer) Lawrence S. Lisby Sr, and older sister, Sherry Landreth.

Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 11 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at the Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 South State Road 135. The Funeral will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. Monday February 12 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, where military graveside rites will be conducted.
