Obituary for Lisa Alison Wiser

Lisa Alison Wiser, 66, of Greenwood and Indianapolis, died peacefully in the family home in Indianapolis on May 27, 2018. Born April 21, 1952, in Louisville, KY, she was the younger daughter of Albert Hughes Wiser, Jr., and Juanita Jameson Wiser.

Lisa was a 1969 graduate of Southport High School and a 1973 graduate of Ball State University. She spent her entire career in the field of computers, mostly as a computer programmer/analyst. She was self-employed contracting with health care facilities, telecommunication corporations, and manufacturing companies.

In the 1980s Lisa taught computing, as well, at George Rogers Clark College, Indianapolis, making one life-long friend from among her students, Peg Tharp Atherton. Lisa and Peg, sometimes including Peg’s husband, Tom, travelled extensively.

Lisa also taught computing to the deaf and hearing impaired students at Crossroads Rehabilitation, Indianapolis.

Lisa was also known at Lady Lia de Langley in the Shire of Cuil Cholium, a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, an historic recreation group.

A devoted boxer owner throughout her life, she owned boxers from the time she was a small child until two months before she died. Lisa owned a boxer she entered in Dog Shows in the 1970s. From that time until her death she was a member of Central Indiana Boxer Club, even serving on the board of directors for a period of time. Lisa produced the monthly newsletter “Boxer Shorts” for the club.

Lisa is survived by her father Albert, Indianapolis; her sister The Hon. Karen D. Powers, Oshkosh, WI; her niece Julia (John) Kiefer, Oshkosh; and her nephew Andrew (Michelle) Powers, Naperville, IL. Lisa was blessed with five great nieces and nephews, Luke, Elizabeth, and Levi Kiefer, Oshkosh, and Nicklas and Avery Powers, Naperville. She is also survived by an uncle, aunt, and cousins in New Albany, IN. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita, in 2012.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday June 2 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 6111 Shelby St., Indianapolis, IN 46227, at 1:30 p.m. with visitation from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Calvary.
