Obituary for Norma J. Schnabel

Norma J. Schnabel, 91, Indianapolis, passed peacefully on Nov. 2, 2017 to be with the Lord. Born August 13, 1926 in Indianapolis to the late Millard and Elsie (Campbell) Wills, she was a 1944 graduate of George Washington High School.

She retired from Best Foods after 40 years of service.

Norma was a member of Faith United Church of Christ.

An avid reader, she was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove and enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include sisters, Betty J. Kelly, Shirley Freese; step-son, David Schnabel of Claremont, California; two grandchildren; Catherine and Dominic Schnabel; nieces and nephews, Janet (Richard) Parsley, Marilyn (David) Crawhorn, Tom (Vicki) Wills, Jack (Nikki) Freese, Nancy George; special friends, Victoria Swineheart, Steve Swineheart and the Redden Family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years George in 2010, her step-daughter, Doris Schnabel; three brothers, James (Freda), Millard and Robert Wills.

Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 AM Monday, Nov. 6 at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 AM.

Burial will be at Holy Cross. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Edmundite Mission, Salvation Army, Wheeler Missions or Sacred Heart Catholic Church Missions.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Elizabeth, Sean, BreAnna and Sarah Redden for the constant love and endless hours of care they have shown Norma the last two years of her life. Additionally, they want to recognize Dr. Richard Beardsley and staff, the Fransican Health Alliance and the Hospice House for their compassionate care.
