Life Legacy


Jefferson Meadows Patterson, 70, of Greenwood, passed away on November 1, 2013. He was born on Sept. 6, 1943 in Kermit, TX to Albert and Vernelle Bishop Patterson. He was a long-time member of Mt Auburn United Methodist Church and he was also a member of the Gideons. He graduated from The University of Texas with a BS in chemistry in 1967 and worked at Eli Lilly until retirement. Jeff served as President of the Indiana Astronomical Society for many years and greatly enjoyed teaching children about the heavens. In high school, he was in All State Band; then put down his tuba for 40 yrs until he retired; then he played tuba in the Greenwood Community Band, Mt Auburn Orchestra, and several other bands.

Survivors include: his wife - Carolyn, 3 children - Joshua, Jessica Haven (Shawn), and Jacob (Tiffany), his God-daughter, Cristiane Brito (Luis) of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and 6 grandsons - Joshua, Henry, Charlie, Lucas, Isaac, and Isom. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 4:30 - 7:30 pm at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 South State Road 135 and Olive Branch Road. Funeral Service will be conducted at Mt. Auburn Methodist Church, 3100 W. Stones Crossing Rd, Greenwood on Wednesday, November 6 at 10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Landscaping Fund at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church.
