Walter Harrison Borders, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 6, 2018. He was born on May 2, 1928 in Milan, Indiana to the late Jethro and Edna Borders and his late foster parents, Joe and Daisy LaFollette.
He retired in 1987 from Chrysler Corporation Indianapolis Foundry where he worked as an Industrial Engineer.
He served on the Wayne Township School Board from 1971 to 1973.
He is survived by his children, Karen (Bill) Barker and Roger (Beth) Borders; grandchildren, Tony (Erin) Turk, Jeremy (Krista) Barker, Nicholas (Kristen) Lewis, Jason Lewis, Joshua Borders, Nathan (Ashley)Barker; great grandchildren, Kalie, Jalynn, Nicholas Jr., Lauren, Taylor, and Reagan Abigail, Austin, Leighton, and Owen; siblings, Ed Tye, and Joan Humphrey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Grubbs) Borders; son, Michael J. Borders; daughter, Doris Lewis; and nine siblings.
Visitation will be Monday 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis. Funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Monday December 10, 2018. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Concord Neighborhood Center, 1310 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46225.
