Obituary for Douglas A. Gooden

Douglas A. Gooden, 64, of Greenwood, passed away on July 5, 2018. He was born on November 28, 1953 to Henry and Mary Jane (Brown) Gooden. He graduated from Seeger Memorial High School (1972) and Purdue University (1976). He was a farmer after college with his dad and brother Steve, and then worked in the agriculture industry as a farmer’s market advisor then advancing into a managerial role at several grain elevators in Illinois and Indiana. Doug retired from ADM in 2014.
During his retirement years, he focused on his passion for playing golf and everything associated with the sport. He loved his golf cart and spent hours customizing it so he could have the best (fastest) cart on the course. It’s rumored that he even allowed Sandi, his wife of 42 years, to drive the cart occasionally.
Doug also enjoyed vacationing in Mexico over the past 20+ years along with numerous trips to Florida with friends. His other sports passions were Purdue Basketball and Cubs baseball.
He is survived by his wife Sandi (Carlson), his son Kyle, daughter in law Danielle(Sudaj) and two grandchildren Maia and Harper. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, along with his older brother Steve. Other surviving relatives include an older sister Sally Simmons and younger brother Jeff Gooden.
The family will be holding a private service at a later undetermined date.
